Heather Palecek

Heather Palecek is a process artist, photographer, teacher, curator, and community builder living in Central NJ, USA. Her work lies in the intersection of historical photographic processes and the natural world. She specializes in pinhole photography, lumen printing, cyanotype, and mixed-media camera-less techniques, pushing the boundaries of these historical methods in innovative ways, often creating art in collaboration with the rhythms of the natural world. Central to her work is an exploration of a variety of the complex relationships humans have with nature, including their connection to climate change. Through her art, Heather invites viewers to think about their own relationship with Mother Nature, encouraging a deeper mindfulness toward environmental stewardship. Her award-winning work has been shown both locally and internationally.
Palecek holds a degree in Fine Art Education and Photography from Montclair State University. Since 2010 she has been a dedicated high school photography educator in New Jersey, and she also teaches a variety of immersive workshops on alternative and historical photographic processes throughout the region. As a passionate community builder she curates local exhibitions and events, is the leader of the NJ Pinhole Club, and hosts an artist residency annually on her property in upstate, NY.
